Gateway Heritage Tours
Gateway Heritage Tours is a guiding service run by Graham Greasley and specialises in providing visitors to North Wales with their own personal guide to show them the sites and historic places that attract thousands of visitors each year to the area.
Whether its castles, stately homes or just a relaxing tour to take in the views I can provide you with your own personal tour which is tailored to meet your needs.
I have access to a variety of licensed vehicles, so can accommodate individuals, small groups or accompany you on your coach.
Having been a keen historian for over thirty years I am able to tailor each tour to suit you and over the years have provided specialist talks to many societies on topics ranging from Castles, Churches, Thomas Telford and his canals and roads and even provide tours to people visiting the area looking to trace their families roots.
The area has a rich heritage and over the years has been visited by many famous people, sometimes on official visits and others for more intriguing reasons.
Visitors have included:-
Henry 2nd, whose army of some several thousand were beating at the Battle of Crogen on the Welsh Border in 1165.
Edward 1st, whose famous castles now dominate the welsh landscape and provide Wales with probably its greatest tourist attractions.
Owain Glyndwr, who in the early 1400’s failed in his attempt to take Wales from the English.
Robert Dudley the Earl of Leicester who was one of Queen Elizabeth 1st favourite courtiers.
Queen Victoria who visited the area twice during her reign and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd who has made many visits to Wales and in 1969 invested Prince Charles as the Prince of Wales in Caernarvon Castle.
Other VIPs like Churchill, Pugin, Lloyd George, Darwin, Walter Scott, Thomas Telford and the Duke of Wellington to name a small number that have visited Wales for various reasons, some were business while others were of a social nature
Find out why these visitors were attracted to the area and walk in their footsteps as you tour the historic sites of North Wales.
